Is there any way to enable bluetooth on a CF-53ASGZA1M
Is there any way to enable bluetooth on a CF-53ASGZA1M?
configurator says no bluetooth, but it is the same card as a unit that has it.
Is there a way to enable bluetooth on this model?
Thank You.

So you have took the 53 apart and seen the Bluetooth card., but it is the same card as a unit that has it.

Re: Is there any way to enable bluetooth on a CF-53ASGZA1M
yes, I even had switched the cards between 2 units, both mk1 touch- where one worked and one didn't (different model numbers) and nothing changed. They were the same cards- so the one that bluetooth was working, continued to work and the one that bluetooth was not working continued to not work.
Thank You
Thank You
Re: Is there any way to enable bluetooth on a CF-53ASGZA1M
I was unaware that the mk1 do not use the bluetooth/wifi combo cards- I assume that is the cause of the issue.
Re: Is there any way to enable bluetooth on a CF-53ASGZA1M
Bluetooth is a separate board on the CF53A. It is not on the Wifi card.

You looked at wireless configuration in bios? On Advanced page of bios. Scroll to Wireless Configuration and press [enter]
Also any time you swap cards a power pull reset is a good idea. Then [F9] [F10] (set to defaults and save) with power supply only plugged in. It gives the mobo less to think about. (battery management for instance)
If I had it I would load a Linux USB and from terminal

I looked at my 53AAGZX1M while typing this...should be close to the same.Power pull reset is unplug power supply and pull battery...then hold on switch down until your finger gets tired. Drains confusion from mobo in some cases.

As you stated "no bluetooth" in configurator. Some Panasonic ads state bluetooth optional...so how are they doing that? Interesting.
Are the bios and ec the same?

Bluetooth is optional because it is a separate board. I think I have one here. Otherwise I installed it in my working CF53.

Here's a link to a Bluetooth board on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Panasonic-CF-53 ... 2059514937
Looks like it may also need a ribbon cable to connect to the mobo
It *might* be possible to find a wifi board from the same family as already installed that includes Bluetooth, which could be a cheaper option. But in general Toughbooks can be very picky about which wifi etc will work with their BIOS.

Re: Is there any way to enable bluetooth on a CF-53ASGZA1M
I tried to "upgrade" a CF31 Bluetooth by using a combo wifi card. It did not work. Wifi worked but no to the Bluetooth. I was working with a 7200 series card. It is a mk2 CF31 with the separate Bluetooth board.
PM me about the Bluetooth board. I will look for it.
