Teo, is it possible to swap a CF-18 dual PC card cage assembly into the CF-19? Unplug the 19 EX + PC cage and plug in a dual PC cage from the 18? Happen to have an extra CF-18 on hand (thanks to Blair!), so already have the extra PC cage.[/quote]

For all you guys that are planning to install the PCMCIA gps into the CF-19 or to CF-18 without sacrificing the other slot.

Here is the solution. It require a bit of soldering though but I know you can do it. "take out that big Cmos battery and it its housing socket and then just replace it with an smaller one like the cmos battery on CF-28, 29 and etc or maybe buy a new one from watch repair shop". If you are handy enough, place a hirose connector that match up the cmos battery connector from cf-28, 29 and etc of course you have to trace up the +line and -line on the board. Or you may just cut it out the plug connector on the cmos(replacement one) battey, open a bit and then directly solder the cmos battery to the board. To hold it tight just apply a double sided tape and your done.

Glad to see that y'all played with this idea more. All I did that day was throw it into one of my CF-18's to see if it would work with out a permanent mount antenna. I never got around to modding my CF-19 I use for work because I was wanting to use a external graphics card with it and it requires the express card slot. I have a Alienware M11X R1 for travel gaming now so I may get around to modding it in. On the antenna I have some of the right covers I got from toughasnails and had though about originally using the CF-18/19 antenna or drilling the hole out a little bigger and using the Gobook Antenna under the original 18/19 cover. I got three of these units now from the gobook 2's and may pick up another one while they are cheap. I still plan on putting one of these into a CF-28 hidden PCMCIA SLOT but haven't decided on antenna options for it yet.

On ebay they had a PCMCIA cage for I think for under $20.00 shipped for the last few weeks so I just went to get it ...gone :( . Don't mind screwing with one as long as I have a backup. I would like to put the GPS in my CF-19MK2...that's what I get for waiting.

I will be changing out that busted screen on that CF-19 for the girlfriend here in a day or two. I will be stripping that unit down, no doors, port covers, but leave the working motherboard intact. I will let you know if you are interested.
