Re: CF-74 Bios Password
Nope...we have been looking but no go and the same with the other Toughbook models. We have had a few members that thought they had it figured out but it did not work out to good.

Re: CF-74 Bios Password
I picked up a CF-74J. I can get everything to work except the WiFi. Took it apart and tried different cards. Windows states no physical card available. Also, the boot time is slow. Hope someone comes up with an answer.
Re: CF-74 Bios Password
I check wireless cards etc with a Linux live cd.
As far as windows goes you really need to run a factory restore cd on the unit if someone else has been tinkering. Windows "not there" = no driver for the specific card.
I have /had units with 3945/ 4965 and 5100. (Intel)
I need more info. What card? Full model#. Maybe a glance at how your files are set up.

Re: CF-74 Bios Password
Model Number: CF-74JCJBDAM
Description: WinXP (Vista COA), Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 2.40GHz (Centrino2), 13.3" XGA Touch, 160GB, 1GB, Intel WiFi a/b/g/n, Multi-drive, Bluetooth
I have the factory restore disc and used it to install OS (XP Pro) and drivers. Initial install, no other software added. Took the machine apart and it has the Intel 5100. I tried two other Intel 5100's and one Intel 3945. No luck. Everything else works including bluetooth.

Re: CF-74 Bios Password
I had trouble? with the 5100 as it worked fine in Linux on a dual boot machine. Yesterday I installed this:
(Wireless_14.2.0.10_x32.exe)(Intel Centrino) This link http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/w ... 032029.htm explains it a bit:
I had the unit set up on cable during the install. Mine is in this case a CF-74FCBCZBM 5100.
I have a copy on USB stick that I downloaded for a CF-74G the other day.
Hope this helps.

Re: CF-74 Bios Password
Mine states in windows XP no physical card available. Does your acknowledge a card. Mine does not even show up in the device manager. I beleive it is off in the bios. That is why I am trying to get someway around the bios password or possibly re-flash the bios. I cannot find a current bios for the CF-74J
