I got my 260+ today. its in very good shape but my guess the battery is shot. In the battery cal it ask me to pick which battery to do but shows none but its in there , also no battery light on the front. Will load XP on it after work tonight. Ken , was your battery any good in the 260+ you bought ?
One thing I did notice , there is only 1 USB port...kinda stupit don't you think.
WARNING:
If you got the dock, DO NOT push in the lock button when trying to cycle the locking mechanism. I did, now I need to buy a key. Talking with an Ebay seller now, maybe I will get 2 keys in case someone else makes that mistake.
Well if there is GPS in it I could not find it and nothing indevice manager . I got xp installed but had a few problems installing it...bad cd-rom. When I tried to install a few drivers I get this..
The install shield engine (kernel.exe)could not be found. The RPC server is unavailable
The intel 2200bg wireless card is installed and shows in the device manager but thats it and when I get the touch screen set up and then restart I get that blue screen after it starts and restarts over and over again. Thinking I may have to start all over again and install xp .
I am running the battery cal now. Still getting no lights but I least it shows up now . The last time it was done was in 12/10/2008 , capacity 7303 mah

I am guessing you are talking about the Gobook 3's on ebay for 40 bucks plus shipping. I picked up too. I just got home from work last night and looking through them today. The GPS should be located in the bump that is on the top of the display. It seems the standard models have flat lid. I got one gobook 2 and it turns out to be a bellsouth model. Looking at stripping the board and putting the 3g card in the Gobook 3. I plan on doing some work on it tonight, maybe swapping out the cpu to the 2.0 I have put up. Let you know how it goes, maybe add a few pictures.
Let us know if yours shows up in the bios or if you find out where it's located. On the bottom of it there is a cover with the windows sticker on it, I have nothing in it but it looks like something was installed there but was removed so that got me wondering if the GPS was taken out.
Good news is after running the battery cal the battery is showing about 3 hours . Is yours in good shape, mine had no marks on it at all and no ware on the palmrest or touchpad/keyboard...it looks almost new.

Mine both have nothing there, BUT on my gobook 2 there is a daughter card that has a pcmcia slot and 3g cingular card in there. The gobook 2 was a Bellsouth model. It has bellsouth logo on the ft and it has bellsouth at the bottom of the factory sticker on the back.
Reading up on the gobook 3 today it said something about the gps not showing up in bios, but will show up in device manager. The gobook 2 uses a different gps unit than the gobook 3. The gobook 2 has pcmcia slot on the side where the gps goes, you replace the door with the special gps bump door and slide the card in. Look at the lid of the regular gobook 3 http://www.ebay.com/itm/ITRONIX-GOBOOK- ... 27bef49c04 and compare it to the one that have gps http://www.ebay.com/itm/Itronix-GoBook- ... 336cc340b2 I found pictures of the lid taken apart to run a new wifi antenna and the bump on the lid was still there, and them saying it had a funny looking antenna on the gps on the gobook 3 under that bump. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ItronixGo ... 27403/view The yahoo groups have been the best info I have found so far on the gobooks.
I got the caddy in it, and testing out usb booting right now. Got it to boot to my pendrive Linux usb (older version based on Mandriva 2007) I will try Ubuntu 10.10 later tonight. Loading windows xp later on via usb DVD drive next. Pen drive Linux found Bluetooth adapter, so I am guessing these models have gps and Bluetooth. Wireless works out of the box with older Linux, Intel 2200. Loading xp right now, it found my Samsung external DVD drive.
In the bios boot devices don't show up until they are physically attached to the machine. Didn't show anything under boot until I installed the harddrive, now that I have the external DVD plugged in it is showing it. Then it allows you to change the boot order if you want too, if not, F11 on boot up. My dell xp install disk keeps saying a file is corrupt, trying another xp disk I have right now. No luck on it either, still have couple of disks to try out. Testing out ERD commander and it booted and worked. I have gone through two xp install disks and one windows 7 disks, all of them say they have files missing or corrupt, something is not right with the usb dvd drive, setup or harddrive (used). I will try Ubuntu in the morning and see how it goes. I know those disks are fine, I have used them several times.
Ok we might be onto something here . I am having the same problem with my USB DVD..the cd keeps winding up and down like it does not have the power to get up to speed. I am trying another cd-rom to see what happens. This is my 3rd one Update
No go on the 3rd cd-rom , also only 1 of my 3 external HDD work too ??

We got ours from the same seller so here is what I did. I used a cd version of xp that i had nlighted to slim it down and use on CF-28's. It took with out a problem, went to the download page I posted earlier and installed all drivers. Went to the Intel site and installed Intel 2200 wireless card driver. Got the GPS to work on com 4 at 4800 baud using visualgpsxp on the first try, but sitting in the house and having it on for just a few minutes it didn't get a fix. Still need to test out Ubuntu and try calibrate battery to see if it will work for me. I knew I couldn't sleep with out messing with it a little more, lol. Well off to bed, more to come for tomorrow, lol.
