My fiance recently bought me the new samsung galaxy tab 10.1 from verizon. The new tab has the ability to tether via wifi using the 4G network. For some unforeseen reason my cf-29 mk5 running xp pro can find the connection but will not connect. every time i try and connect, it says connecting and then will just say unable to connect to the network, no errors. The same thing happens with another cf-29 mk3 running win7 and a cf-73 running xp pro. I have been through just about every avenue with verizon techs and the tablet as far as trying different tablets. I also upgraded the network drivers in all 3 systems to no avail. My cf-30 mk2 win7 is able to successfully connect to the tab and browse at 4g as well as several other wireless devices i have.
I will be contacting panny tech support soon but my fiance is in the icu which takes priority.
in the mean time if anyone is able to provide any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
I know why! The reason is this: When the TAB is a hotspot, it's protected with WPA or even WPA2.
CF-29's DO NOT support WPA security! Only WEP. It's because they have 2200BG wireless cards in them, which don't support WPA or WPA2. All the IBM T40/41/42's have this problem too!.
You would have to upgrade to a 3945abg to get this to work, ~OR~ you would somehow have to get the TAB to use WEP as the security (or no security).
Thanks

I have security disabled on the tab so its an open network and it still wont connect.
I dont want to have to upgrade all 3 wifi cards but if thats what it takes lol.
12 CF-29's MK5, One CF-18 MK5, One CF-19 MK1, 4 CF-51's MK3, 7 CF-51 MK2, one CF-74 MK3, One CF-30 Mk 3 and one CF-52 MK2. Wait, is that all I have? MUST HAVE MORE!
If there is no security, that's odd... One thing to check too would be to make sure that IEEE 802.x is UNCHECKED!
View available networks, advanced, find your WIFI network that is saved in the list click on it once to highlight it, then click on properties and then there are 3 tabs. Use the middle tab (authentication) to find this setting. Make sure that the 802.x box is UNCHECKED!
Let me know.

Odd.... Very odd..... Damn..... and what about normal WIFI networks? How do the 3 CF-29's play with those?
Why the HECK would a TAB not behave the same way???
Goofy question, but did you try anything else other than a CF-29??? Because if you try some newer inferior computer (A Dull for example) and it also doesn't work, then you know it's not the Toughbooks...

LOL all i have are toughbooks, it also doesnt work with my cf-73 mk5. it does however work with my cf-30 MK2 and both our cell phones. all these computers play well with my wifi network at home and the guest network here at the hospital.
i thought it might have something to do with the older toughbooks and the new verizon network. but just for fun I tried tethering from the same tab in 3G mode and still no go.
It has nothing to do with the Verizon network... The TAB communicates to the VZW network, the connection between the computers and the TAB are strictly WIFI.
Very odd though...
