Teo , Did you ever get the CF-30 up and running ?

Blair,.. I ended up buying an extra mbo. Its an MK2 and I stumble enough to find out after the swapped that is literally like new coz it has 0 hr. on it. The swapped was easy and I can confirm that the hardware like the casing for all Mark are compatible. I iniatially installed win 7 and it works fine. the only thing that I am trying to figure out is the wwan. Windows can't detect it but before the swap it works fine. I guess it need a reflash of the bios.

The MBO. for an MK3 will be an expiremental untill such time that all necessary software and hardware are available to crack the code. I just found out base on an MK2 service manual that this mbo. has three security chips. Two eeprom and a the tpm module thats why its hard to crack.

When you got the new motherboard, did it come with any software to rewrite the model and serial numbers to BIOS?

There are actually 3 eeproms and a TPM on the MK3 motherboard.

rusty... I bought it on ebay( the price! not bad ) less than a half price compare to Heartland and according to the seller it was taken from a unit with shattered LCD. The original bios is intact.

BTW, with regards to the WWAN. Its working now. I've just missed the dip switches combination on the sled.

Now! I look back to my MK3 mbo. the ic27 location is not as hard to work into. Did you try before of shortening the pin leg of which ever combination of the oem chip. I will try that and see what is the outcome.

Can anybody here tell me where to access a cmos battery back up for cf-30 or any words how to bypass a bios password on cf-30. This is an anticipation with my newly acquired unit Cf-30 and its on its way but with those problem. I've got it for 600buck with the exemption of optical drive but hdd caddy included. Thanks

Also it has a gps builtin and wireless WWAN ready.

what mark do you have? when they released mk3 you cant take the bios password out you have to replace the mainboard. but for mk 1 u can just pull the cmos battery out i can tell you how to get there if u want.

Welcome to the forum.....I have a CF-30 MK1 . We have tried this before but no luck unless you know something we don't . Rusty I think reprogramed the BIOS chip....I think. Teo had to get another mother board for his.

for me all i do is remove the main computer battery which slides out, uncover the bottom cover , then just unplug the cmos battery wait a few seconds plug everything back and it works fine. on the newer models u can do that u have to replace the whole mainbooard. unless there unplugging the wrong plug or something form the cmos.
