Nothing underhanded.
Just a bit more security at Coffee shop WIFI hotspots and some privacy protection at work.
If I need to respond to an email from my phone via WIFI, Sometimes I need to insure it is private.
Indeed.. I would prefer some sites I visit to not be known. No pron or illegal stuff.

Yeah I mean your first step is NOT using *ANY* public wifi lol... Get 4G on Verizon and call it a day 
But I have my own private VPN back to my 1G fiber where the TBT server is housed...

I understand about WLAN being the best choice, but that wont happen for me.
I am not getting 4g or 3g or 2g for that matter.
I can't afford the monthly expense. Especially when I am about to change jobs for probably less money. I'm not making much now. I don't even have cable TV.

If Tor is Linux, it is not happening for me.
I am looking at FREE VPN. Any recommendations or experience?
Must run with Windows 7 and Android if possible.
I am not concerned with huge file transfers or blazing speed.
Just some level of security so I can type an email to a new job prospect or to my therapist without concern that my boss or someone else will intercept it.

You can run Tor in windows, don’t know about android.
We get some rules to follow.

From what I have read Tor will mask your IP but does not have any encryption.
So if I understand Tor will prevent others across the room in the hotspot from knowing my IP or location, but they could still read everything I type.
