It was suggested that I try MacBuntu
I figured ok, I will try it.
Download Ubuntu 16.10 iso...no problem
Tried several iso to usb programs...Finally used Rufus to create a working usb

Go to MacBuntu page..Look for theme package to download..Ummm NO...

26 count em 26 lines to copy, paste, and run one at a time into terminal..
Install them all and look for the new theme in appearance...No joy
Try in the tweak tool I just installed..No joy.

So after probably 2 hours of downloading and installing, I did manage to get the Ubuntu icon on the Launcher to look like an Apple... That's it..That's the major transformation.

Ugh......I tried, I really tried. I really WANTED it to work.


On the other hand
Mac transformation pack for Windows7. One download..one click..one install..
10 minutes later it works....

Hope this is not considered "cross-posting" (an apparent no-no in forum circles), but I posted an answer to this in notebookreview forums before my new account here was approved. Download MacBuntu package from sourceforge:

Then extract contents. Inside extracted folder is "install.sh" In terminal, cd to that folder and:

sudo ./install.sh -force

This will install icons, and window theme. Then open Ubuntu Control Panel > Look and Feel section.
Select theme in "Appearances" and use "Windows" settings to select moving titlebar buttons to left like in OSX.

Move Ubuntu taskbar to top (right-click > Panel Properties), and right-click on things to change icons, and experiment with looks of that stuff.

You may have to add docky to startup programs. If you do need to do that, go to:
System > Preferences > Personal > Startup Applications and add "docky".

Maybe it's the length of the file name rather than the extension.

Super interesting but does this do anything other than simply LOOK like OSX? I love how OSX integrates with other Apple devices. And I want my Aperture software back too for photography. I mean that alone is almost cool enough, but I am greedy and want more!

Sorry for late reply. I just now saw this. It only looks like OSX. You can use some basic Linux commands in OSX, but other than that, Linux is not OSX. It does not let you use OSX applications.

Not to mention, the original post is 5 years old, so likely not going to work unless you install Ubuntu 16.04
