shopsmith's
Any of you guys use them? Have one? I just aquired one from a guy in NC that knew nothing about it or what came with it. Came with a rusty jointer, a trash can full of accessories and a almost perfect machine. Some rust but its minimal and most rubs off with alittle pb plaster rust inhibitor.

They are the best saw on the market....well as you know it's more than just saw. I have been looking at them for about 20 years now but the price for a new one at that time was around $2000.00 . Let me guess, you got it cheap.

It's an 85. The only research the guy did was on the "drive" as he called it, based his $450 price on that. A good bunch of accessories came with it, chisels, molding cutters, all ton of plates, blades, sanding disks, feather board... the list just goes on and on. So far I've tried the saw, planer, and the lathe portion. All seem to work good. Trying to keep cleaning and de-rusting some of it. What's interesting the only thing with wear is the dado stack and saw blade

Re: shopsmith's
That was a sweet deal for sure. What I like is you can get lots of accessories for it. My shop is 24 by 16 but after adding cabinets, work bench, planer, sander, scroll saw, drill press, radial arm saw and and a ton of other stuff there not a lot of room left. With a Shopsmith I could free up a whole lot of space, about half. Have you checked out there web page yet ? A lot of nice stuff for sure. What's good is you can still get parts for the older marks or upgrade to the newest mark ($1700.00) I know it's a lot but cheaper than a new one ($4000.00). let me know what you think of it after you have tried it out for a while.

Well so far it's been good, some belt slip but i pulled it down and the sheaves are frozen so there's no tension on the belt. Now to free up and see what happens
