Irfanview on Zorin
Re: Irfanview on Zorin
I have it installed on MX-16. My Zorin was too fouled up from various experiments.
I installed winetricks and iview444.
Used winetricks to load mfc42.dll
More later....chore time.

yup. did that. Irfanview works for me. It even put a shortcut on the desktop.
Just is not default YET.
I will try it on 53A when I go down to eat..lunch/dinner

Re: Irfanview on Zorin
Just found this thread. I'm sure Shawn has it figured out by now and has a program to do what he wants.
I don't know about gimp nor mirage...which come on Mx-16. Dolphin Oracle (guru that makes their videos) uses:
Pinta (it's in the repositories) and is very basic yet simple to use...I'm guessing sorta like paint in windows.
I've used Shutter (also found in the repositories). I use the Mx packagage installer and looked for popular packages.
I like to use this when possible to handle all dependencies. There are choices i.e. stable, test, backport repo's. I choose stable and stay on the less than wild side. Shutter is for screenshots but it allows text editor and a host of other great features that you might like. This a link to shutter, but suggest adding it via package manager:

Re: Irfanview on Zorin
nope,, I do not have it figured out.
I am going to be stubborn with this one. I want Irfanview for my images. That means via Wine.
I just want it to be the default for all images.

Re: Irfanview on Zorin
[Options] [Hotlist] works for me.
IRF thinks it's on C: and sees the hdd as D:
I'm still working on the right click part.

Re: Irfanview on Zorin
Okay, It's a windows program. Might try contacting the author about making a Linux version:

Re: Irfanview on Zorin
There must be a way.
Two of the right click and default program options for opening images are Internet Explorer on Wine. It is duplicated for some reason.
But it's a Wine program listed a s a default to open. So there is a way.
A really generic way would be to rename Irfanview.exe to Iexplore.exe and move it to that folder.
It's already been ask and the author has no desire to do a Linux version.

Re: Irfanview on Zorin
No, I have never heard of it.
Looks smoother to use than Wine.
I will need to try it.
When I remember and am on the 53 again.

Re: Irfanview on Zorin
I have news.
PlayonLinux was already pre installed on Zorin12 Ultimate.
I tried to run it and re install Irfanview. It gave me an error and I closed it.
Then I went back to settings/gear icon and now run with Irfanview showed up as a images default option.
Clicked it and rebooted...No joy ..Gimp still opened the jpg file.
So I did the right click on the image file and chose the default option like Jeff said.
Now jpgs all auto open with Irfanview.. I will need to right click and choose default for every file typre...But we are going the right direction.
It MAY have worked with PlayOnLinux if I did not already have Irfanview installed.
