Re: Android on ToughBook
Shawn, I saw your post on NBR, very good job of sorting out things. Your point on last month the 24th well taken. I'll try to follow the directions exactly using their installer once I find the windows hdd for the 52 gun.

Yes, your sighs you posted sum it up. I was too hopeful I guess. Glad that Linux works for me...

Re: Android on ToughBook
Android IS Linux....
It is frustrating that the developers don't seem to follow through and finish distros properly.
Installation issues and complicated install requirements are totally unacceptable.
Even the so called commercial releases have some glaring problems.
It confuses me because all the developers need to do is copy the install routine from another distro. Why on one of the Android distros am I required to make a USB stick on WINDOWS? No option to download an iso to create a CD. They could have just copied the entire install setup from Zorin for example and used it.
Why reinvent the wheel?
The developers don't seem to look at the big picture. They get it to work on their hardware and stop....
Sorry, I went into Linux rant mode.
Zorin installs and everything works. I do not NEED to use terminal for anything. But, I can if I WANT to..."Just sayin"
I still want the real official OSX gui on top of a Linux kernel. Beauty and power in one OS.

Re: Android on ToughBook
I think this is the main reason why it only has 2.14% market share. It needs to be more user friendly. The way they do it now it's not going to happen.

Re: Android on ToughBook
There is one M$ development.
There is one O$X development.
There are myriad independent developers of Linux distros. Let's call them Geeks. Many of them feel they must write the code so non-Geeks can be weaned from M$ "easily". And many of the Geeks are not weaned themselves.
Me, I started with Linux because I couldn't afford COA's. I blunder through it.....don't ask the forums anything.....and "carry on". (note: I don't care for "solutions" starting with the word SIMPLY") and I like the terminal.
I prefer:
1. Anti-x MX16. (lightest footprint and works down to CF-29 and below.)
2. LMDE2
3. Zorin except for the fact that it is based around Ubuntu Xenial . And ZORIN is not finished yet. They admit it and more power to them.
4. Mint 18.1 for CF-31 Sound issue.
5. Old PorteusLinux for CF-M34. (PlopLinux in the menu):)
Note #1 and #2 are Debian based.
Shawn and I have been grabbing packages here and there for things we like, to tweak our favorites the way we want. (Shawn the hacker)
FWIW
CF-27 (XP/DOS), CF-28, CF-29, CF-30, CF-31, CF-51, CF-52, CF-53, CF-M34, CF-19. ONE working W7 on a CF-30....etc.
