Now we are at "Stage five of five Failure configuring Windows updates, reverting changes, do not turn off your computer"
Here comes a fresh W7 SP1 install in a few minutes....I could care less if W7 works, I just want to flash the bios. If it will boot from DVD that is. I can boot from the MK2 if I have to.
Here is the trick.
Put the drive in the mk2. Make sure it boots and windows works.
Then go to device manager and uninstall all of the major devices. Right click on each device--uninstall. Ignore any must reboot warnings.
Now run the driver bundle installer for the mk3 while the drive is still in the mk2. Manually install if you have to. Pinstall forces.
After the drivers are installed, shut down and pull the drive.
Put the drive into the mk3 and boot. It should work almost perfectly except for maybe one or two drivers.
I have done this from a mk1 to a mk2 and from a mk2 to a mk3.
Immediately run the offline updater usb stick. Even before connecting wifi.
Disable windows updates. (UWT works good)
Connect wifi.
