I recently acquired a cf 19 Mk4 with a 160 gb HDD. I would like to replace it with a SSD drive. I was looking at a
SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive, will it work ? Is it a direct replacement ? If not what would be the correct ssd replacement ?
Thanks

You should have no problem with that drive. I have a few Samsung drives in my Toughbooks. Direct replacement ? Well Panasonic will sell you one for around $800.00

Just be prepared to get less than SATA III speed.
Life will beat you into submission.

Thanks for the info. By Direct replacement I meant out with the old in with the new.
One other thing I have a choice of win 7 pro 32 or 64 bit, it currently has 4gb of ram
what would be my best choice?

I have W7 64bit on mine only because I had some extra memory laying around or I would of went with 32bit. On a 19 all you really need is 32bit with 4GB memory and that new SSD that 19 will fly

With 4gb run 32bit.
It will be faster than 64bit with 4gb

Hello,
I replace HDD's with SSD's all the time in toughbooks. From what you described, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. Hope this helps.
