Boooo, hisssss
Do any of your CF-30's emit a soft hiss or white noise from the speaker as soon as you turn the unit on? (before the OS loads, even)

It's a mark 3 KQPRQAM.
The noise is barely noticeable, though.

Does it stop making noise when you close the lid?
Thanks!

Re: Boooo, hisssss
I see where you're going with this. No, when my LCD powers down or when I close the lid, the noise continues.

Re: Boooo, hisssss
My Toughbooks don't boo or hiss..They do whisper in my ear that they are lonely. They keep insisting that I get them more friends.
AC or battery power or both?
Try removing the battery
Try unplugging the speaker.

Re: Boooo, hisssss
Hehe, maybe the solution is to get more toughbooks then.
Regardless of power or presence of batteries, it hisses. It's too minor of a problem for me to go through the trouble of disconnecting the speaker, though. You really have to put your ear to it, or only hear it when it's dead silent in the room. So far it doesn't bother me but I do wonder about the power drain.
About the lid closing, it's fair to note that I configured it to not sleep but just blank the screen.

Hey guys, been away for a while. Following up on this issue, plugging in headphones does not stop the sound coming from the speaker. Anyway, it's a minor issue.
