Newbie Needs Help With XP Install (new project)
Re: Newbie Needs Help With XP Install (new project)
Yes the big boys computer is Win7
I just noticed that I am using XP service pack 1 as this must have been what is on the recovery discs. I have a copy of Pack 3. Should I upgrade this ?

Re: Newbie Needs Help With XP Install (new project)
Personally I prefer MX-14 Linux on mark 1,2 and 3. PM sent.
But yes SP3 would be good.

So I finally broke down and bought a used set of Wiha's..It cost me $12.50 for all 6...Sadlmkr wrote:Do you have a good set of screwdrivers? I prefer Wiha.
If you start cracking cases and join our mob of heros PH-1 x 60 and PH-0 x 50 will let you have your way with most case screws.
Back to screwdrivers.....push down hard to break the thread locker free and you will never strip one. Hardly ever.![]()

Re: Newbie Needs Help With XP Install (new project)
My PH-1 and PH-0 are needing replacement soon.
Remember to lean on them at first to break thread-locker loose.
Shawn has the thread-lock special now. 31P. > 2 hours to pull the bottom off. I used a PH-00 and a small hammer to get to the bottom of the phillips slot. And heat. (hot air station) Someone thought it would be good to fill the gaps above the screws with blue stuff.

Re: Newbie Needs Help With XP Install (new project)
Just to keep you guys updated. The laptop is still working 100% without any problems at all. Could I ask here to save opening another thread if anyone has used the optical drive adapters for a second HDD ?
Re: Newbie Needs Help With XP Install (new project)
Yes on the second drive adapters, But it MUST be a PATA (IDE) drive.
Yes I have a WD 320gb IDE that I would part with. PM me..
Side note...Panasonic actually made an OEM second drive adapter for a CF29. CF-VHD2830

Re: Newbie Needs Help With XP Install (new project)
Great and thank you very much Shawn for the offer of your second hand one. I would snap it up no problems but the only thing is that I am based in Northern ireland (UK) so postage would probably be huge ? I have seen lots of them on eBay from China etc. and they are not that expensive but i would rather go for the genuine one if I could get it.
I see that there is several differant sizes and from what I can gather I need a 12.7mm like this one ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-12- ... SwAYtWJhBO
