CF-52 MK II no power
CF-52 MK II no power
The model is CF-52GCMBXAM. I spilled about 1 teaspoon of tea (a splash out of the cup) on the laptop when it was closed but on while it was leaning handle up on a table leg next to me. As far as I can tell no tea got inside, but it won't power on at all. No liquid was anywhere near the power plug as far as I can tell. I've hooked up the power supply and battery to another CF-52 and both appear to work fine. The hard drive also is fine when it is in another CF-52 MK II. I have not tested the wireless card or the RAM, no liquid got on either of the covers for those bays.
I have taken apart the CF-52 up to having the top of the case off. I do not have the service manual nor have I ever taken a CF-52 any further apart than this. I am wondering if some tea got in through the small grid next to the on/off wireless switch. The other place that a few drops might have gotten in is around the screw hole under the rubber corner on the toughbook logo side of the bezel. Apparently the tea is acidic enough to be a solvent to the adhesive used to secure the bumper. I've cleaned the antenna board with rubbing alcohol.
Anyway I'm wondering if there is a fuse someplace that might have blown that I can replace...? Or if anyone has any ideas about why I'm not getting power at all. I have tried multiple power adapters as well. I have not tried changing the cmos battery because I don't know which battery I'd need to do so. At least it appears that the cmos battery is not soldered on.
Thanks in advance!

You would not think that small amount of liquid would cause an issue, but strange things happen.
Fuses are very tiny.1/16 of an inch.
PM me a email address....I'll get you some documents...

Re: CF-52 MK II no power
You wouldn't think so, but that's the only thing I can come up with. If no one else has any ideas then I'll pop everything in a bag of rice for three days and see if that helps. If that doesn't do it then I'll declare the motherboard dead. It certainly doesn't sound like replacing a fuse is an option without equipment and skill I don't have.
