Cf-52 Bios Settings Won't Save
Cf-52 Bios Settings Won't Save
I have a CF-52VAABY1M and when I go to change settings in the bios, they appear to save but are back to before after a reboot. Anybody have any idea why or how to fix? Thanks, Justin
Re: Cf-52 Bios Settings Won't Save
If this includes the time/date the cmos battery may be the culprit. Unplugged from the mobo?
I normally use F10 to save.
Access to the plug under the keyboard. The battery is visible next to optical bay glued to inside bottom of case.

The time and date are current and stay the same. Some stuff sticks, I installed a Gobi4000 and the settings are good. But I went to change the cpu to disable vt-d and a few other things and they wont stay set.

This is over my head.
Maybe onirakkiss can help. Try a PM. He's very sharp with bios issues.

Try to disable TPM...
I think there is an update for the mk4 bios..Flash the update.
Why do you want to change the cpu settings?
Something else that is dependent on what you want to disable is still enabled.....

I was trying to see if I could get osx running. Then realized nothing would stick. I disabled tpm, but was re-enabled once rebooted. The boot order won't even stay.

Some comforting words here, yes? This is several years old and some has changed....but any review of TPM and TPM 1.2 is plain scary. The vendor of a TPM-enabled system has complete control over what software does and does not run on the owner's system.[11] In some cases the vendor may choose to grant permission to the owner to configure hardware they have legally purchased. This does include the possibility that a system owner would choose to run a version of an operating system (OS) that refuses to load unsigned or unlicensed software, but those restrictions would have to be enforced by the operating system and not by the TCG technology. What a TPM does provide in this case is the capability for the OS to lock software to specific machine configurations, meaning that "hacked" versions of the OS designed to get around these restrictions would not work. There is legitimate concern that OS vendors could use these capabilities to restrict what software would load under their OS (hurting small software companies or open source/shareware/freeware providers, and causing vendor lock-in for some data formats), and Microsoft has already stated they will begin restricting what software they will allow to run on Windows, starting with Windows 8 on ARM.[12]

TXT may or may not be involved. Whatever that means.
The vendor may choose to provide to the owner????????

Good luck,
Jeff

This is some of the older stuff.
Searching for bios and TPM was not very fruitful.
I always read your stuff....choosing to comment on the things that interest or scare me.
Notice it says OS....not bios. OS is the thingy on the HDD, yes?
Sent from my CF-52 MintDebian 20 hour CF-52.
