Re: Kodibuntu
See ideally I want to end up with something like this here http://gameroomsolutions.com/live-tv-setup/. I'm so tired of charter and if I can pull something like this off it'll pay off in the long run I think...but this is all new to me and reresearchings half my battle right now....
Re: Kodibuntu
Interesting, a Linux system that runs essentially as a server for your streaming pleasure. Reading through the article you liked I found Mythbuntu Linux being used:
http://www.mythbuntu.org/home
The only thing that sounds too good to be true is the $2.00 "card" from Cox Cable, or any other cable provider.

I called charter. The card is $1.99 but you need a basic plan that's like $27
Re: Kodibuntu
Little update...we've been running 3 android tv boxes and one laptop running kodi. So far we love it, set up an antenna and it's streaming on the network for local channels. Found streams and and all the episodes we watch, all up to date. Turned in all the cable boxes today and upgraded the internet. Still thinking of setting up a laptop with a dedicated operating system for it or maybe even a desktop....hmmmm
