According to google, almost 50% of the users are using JB and only about 8% ICS, so It doesn't seem too much "secure" to stay with a hardly used version.Sadlmkr wrote:As I read it, there are updates for ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) and the next upgrade would be Jelly Bean or something.
The catch 22 is there is a huge number of apps that would need to be modified by individuals so switching from ICS to JB doesn't make sense for making the big switch......another way to put it 2% have switched to JB so there in little motivation for apps designers to upgrade from ICS to JB.
It's all economics and advertising.... not function. (my opinion)
FZ-A1 update ???

Re: FZ-A1 update ???
It's ok. Well, we'll have to wait for a service manual, maybe there's a way to get to a hidden menu to install custom firmware (I really doubt it).
Regards.
Re: FZ-A1 update ???
Have you experimented with Linux?
On my phone (Samsung smarter then me) I see lots of folders (folders are files in Linux or files are folders
)
My choice would be a Linux platform ....doable with W7? Not doable with Android? Too many irons in the fire. (refers to branding irons of which I have three) and the cows to go with them.
I charge my JT-B1 and Samsung from a good (expensive) micro-usb to usb. Lots of files there....no time to sort it out. Ummm from a Mint 17 or similar Toughbook.
Let's update it and not tell anyone.

Re: FZ-A1 update ???
The lack of support is not surprising, and definitely disappointing given what these things cost. I updated my FZ-G1 to Windows 10 recently, and when I went to Panny's website to see if they had updated any of their utilities for it, it said that Windows 10 is not supported on Mk 1 FZ-G1s**. It's a machine I bought two years ago

Re: FZ-A1 update ???
But if you look how long W10 has been out, only a few months. Give them some time and they might have an update for you BUT do you really want it. I know I will never use W10. All the bullcrap that they are trying to do....they can shove W10 where the sun don't shine

Re: FZ-A1 update ???
Yes, perhaps, though I can't believe there is so much difference in the hardware versions that it's not possible to support them all.
As for getting Windows 10 in the first place, I had almost blown it off since it never popped up to auto-install, but it finally did, so I let it go to see if the tablet support had improved any. There's not much difference though; the on-screen keyboard is a bit less likely to resize my app windows, but that's about it. I had Classic Shell on it before for a start menu, and still do (sorry MS, live tiles don't do anything for me but waste space).
I have a 1TB mSATA SSD waiting to go in it when I get time, and once I do that, I'll probably try out Ubuntu Touch and PC-BSD on it. If they work OK then Windows 10 gets kicked to a VM
