Thanks troops. Done deal. I just needed another set of hands. Used the grommet behind the passenger door hinge. Wired battery direct with 15A in-line fuse.
Typical ranch deal...used a piece of heavy weed eater string to find the route then taped and pulled my leads.
Now to remember to shut it off.

I am not a fan of the Cigarette Lighter approach as they do not normally carry enough voltage to be reliable. The pros that hook up 2-ways and heavy duty stereo amps usually run a fused lead directly to the battery, so do I.

110watts..That's rather powerful...What band?

Re: Definitely OT VHF Radio Install..Ford F250
It is a Astro Spectra 9000 VHF (136-174 MHz). I use it for Ham, Business, Marine and some old "State band" stuff. I am also thinking of putting a 10,11,12 Meter in there, that is 125 Watts, but I would not key both at the same time, even with the new HD Alternator I just put in!Shawn wrote:110watts..That's rather powerful...What band?

Actually, its not the voltage that affect on that specific circuit. Its the current flow on the line but of course its the question how you wired it up. In parallel circuit the voltage has no change only the current and on series the voltage will drop. Can you imagine how much current that flow on the circuit in order to burn the element on cigarette lighter. Has anybody here got a table for cable sizing on a car. I do have but its for building under NEC standard.

I know Teo, my bad... I meant to say AMPERAGE, and I need more then 15 to 20 Amps.teo wrote:Actually, its not the voltage that affect on that specific circuit.
