confused
Re: confused
Now that I know what a C1 is, I think that would be a good choice. Nothing will ever be perfect,
Life will beat you into submission.
Re: confused
OK here are my thoughts.
1. Handy in and out of trucks....you never do this with the screen open right?
2. Cooler =fan. Or an ice pack on the tool chest.....maybe a device to keep air flow unrestricted.
3. CF-19 with back-lit keyboard. Spacing between keys. I assume since you turn wrenches your hands are not petite.
4. CF-53 is not a tablet but screen size is like a 19 and a half wide. Not as tall as a 52. Full size keyboard. Lighter. Good for at least two falls from the kitchen table.
5. You are going to have to be careful with a 52 due to the narrow screen bezel.
6. If program speed was not the issue I would say try a CF-52 Touchscreen. W7 /64? I wish Azrial had one to try 8Gb of ram. Maybe Kerry has tried it.
Let me know and I'll send you a GUN to try. The one with the locked bios. No harm no foul if you leave it on the drivers onna accident.
I ran one for +2 years then sent it to Morgan. Still running.
If you want to try a CF-19MK2 Touch with BLKB we can do that too. You break it you buy it.
So perfect list is
1. CF-31i5
2. CF-19i5
3. CF-53JULA21M <<<<<<I have this one.
4. CF-52GUNBRAM <<<<<<<beater
Just thinking.

Re: confused
The shop owns a 53, me and one other guy(were the two main diag guys) are the only ones aloud to touch it....others if the service manager signs off....it runs great(i still am not 100% sure what makes an EZ tech an EZ tech...its nothing in the bios...) but lately ive been finding my self leaving the 30 open all the way and using the touch screen but when its twice as long its a SOB for room....and as i said the heat seems to be affecting it alot this summer...Dont get me wrong the 30 runs great...i just feel like im maxing it out and i just dont want to abuse it and leave me loosing time instead of making it...
maybe im just paranoid...my 29 died in the heat of the summer when i started pushing it when i got put into this roll....here we are again and im somewhat having dajavu(i cant spell)....upgraded the cooling pads in this and its made a world of difference...but im just wondering if i had something with a fan if it would truely make that much of a difference...

Re: confused
I have sold at least 9 CF-52's to mechanics,I'm on one now and it has rolled out of my truck about 4ft to the concrete,no problem. Sold a hinge for one to a guy who tested armored hummers, they were offroad and the 52 flew across and smashed into the pillar with the lid open. Replace hinge and speaker cover and it's still running.
7 of them went to one diesel repair shop in 3 orders,he ain't killed one yet. Got 2 from Afghanistan,US Army engineer unit. They managed to punch holes 1" + in the magnesium lid on both of them.Still running.

2 CF-30Mk3's, 2 CF-71's, CF-L1, 3 CF-72's, CF-73, CF-74, CF-48, CF-50, CF-51Mk3, 2 CF-19's,7 CF-52's, FZ-A1 and other assorted beaters.

Re: confused
What's the diff between semi and business?
I keep thinking about units that I have dropped.....o.k. the first I had....a CF-52 had a cracked screen when I got it. Influenced my opinion of the regular 52. I think Shawn is still running it. PITA to get a WRONG replacement......well kinda wrong....glossy instead of matte.
For in and out of the truck for real work...is what we are talking about. This gentleman needs no down time due to a computer.
I have done a bit of radio programming while sitting behind the wheel. The CF-19 shines for W7 compatible programs ....because of the size. But if heat is an issue look at something with a fan.
My last on this is..... good to excellent thermal pads in the CF-30 and don't worry about it.
Take care.
Jeff

Rugged= survives use no sane person would do to a normal laptop and everyday use by heavy handed gorillas
Semi-rugged= survives most accidental damage and the occasional "Hold my beer and watch this" type use
Business rugged= used by sane people who usually work in air conditioned spaces and survives occasional accidents that would break most pedestrian laptops
