Thanks to Ohlip and Onakriss for doing all the lectrical calculatin and posting their conversions first...
I used a 500 nit panel and added 2 strips to it..There is less room than a 1000 nit screen.
I can see some hotspots from the LED's on the taskbar. It is noticeable with a light colored taskbar.
Not as much with a darker screen.
I tested this running a Windows 7 LiveCD. It did not have any brightness adjustment, so until I install the lid on a unit with a full install, what you see is what I get...
First time I ignored Teo's instructions and installed the LED's in the metal that the CCFL was in. That was a bad choice. The CCFL holder is very shiny and the reflections cause problems. Maybe I will paint the metal LED strip holder black next time. I will be converting a 1000 nit panel next.
I have not figured how to completely eliminate the hotspots. I think most of my problem is that the 500 nit screen is thinner and the LED's are closer to the glass of the LCD panel.
It's very acceptable for a first attempt.
