Can you upgrade CF-74 cpu

#1 Post by toughasnails »

I have been looking at a couple of 74's and was wondering if the cpu can be upgraded to the core 2 duo. Anybody know for sure ??

Too bad, just picked up a cf-74CCB unit I believe an earlier model with T2400 cpu I was hoping would be upgradable as the core duo cf-51's were. At least it's a sata hdd and upgradable to 4GB ram. Any one know how to finetune the touchscreen on these? Doesn't have the icon to hit on to do recalibrate on. Must check into control panel, thanks, Driller

Should be an option in the programs under the start menu... Fujitsu Touchscreen Calibration.

Let me know how the 74 works and how the screen is compared to the 51.

mine is a Mk1 and I believe it has a non panasonic OS as I can't find anything for touchscreen calibration anywhere. The TS works but is just a bit off. Am looking for a restore disc for the cf-74 now and believe one on fleabay that I'll get and upgrade the ram and hdd to a sata maybe 500gb. opened up the top from keyboard and it doesn't gain access to MB that way. Must have to go from bottom. That makes me think as Rob said the cpu is NOT upgradeable, pooh! but anyhow, don't think it's as tough as fully tough but is a bit faster. If I can get new hdd and get panny version OS and calibrated TS it looks like a nice unit. Not cpu upgradeable is sad though. will let you know.......Driller

Not unless you have the right machine/tool to unsolder 400+ pins and re-solder them... :sucks:

TOUCHSCREEN CALIBRATION WITH UBUNTU 10.10 or 11.04
I have not rc'vd my restore disk yet. I did however load a custom copy of Ubuntu 11.04. For my purposes I set [Login Screen Settings] to [Ubuntu Classic (No Effects)].

Used calibration utility found here.
http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Softwar ... calibrator
CLICK WHERE IT SAYS DEBIAN TESTING (MENTORS) and load as directed.
Calibration is then found in [System][Administration]Calibrate Touchscreen

Save the snippet with:

Code: Select all

sudo gedit /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-calibration.conf
IOW NOT /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d etc. This yields an error message. See below image if this yields a huh? on your account.:D
Cut and paste this part to the empty file using your numbers.
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "calibration"
MatchProduct "Fujitsu Takamisawa USB Touch Panel"
Option "Calibration" "1247 15615 1695 15403"
EndSection

The only other thing I change is to hide Firefox and use Chromium (from Ubuntu Software Center)

driller,
Do you have a file called brecal anyplace on that 74. Or maybe you could lift it from another unit. Then again since we are talking USB touch on the newer units maybe brecal won't work. Nope scrap that. You need \util2\drivers\tscreen\ftsetup.exe according to Pana Support............H-2008-0005.pdf (for cf-30 but there must be one for 74 somewhere)

FWIW
