Short version:
MK3 with the 2MP camera, does that camera prevent 2 ram sticks?
Also what are the RAM specs for the MK3?
Long Version:
CF-19KDRU66M is the new (new to me) toughbook i am planning on purchasing. It only has 2 gigs of RAM but has a camera there near the RAM. Will the camera prevent me placing more RAM? I am already planning a SSD upgrade, is there anything else that would help boost performance? And along the lines of RAM, is the RAM I have in my MK2 combatible with my MK3? I am trying to rely on everyone's experience and knowledge here before I just pop the bottom off both computers and start losing screws. :0.
Any help is appreciated.
The camera will prevent you from using 2 sticks...sorry :( . You will see a good boost in performance by adding a SSD in it. Faster start ups, open and close programs. I have them in all my Toughbooks now

Thank you for the info on the camera. While dissapointing, I can move on. Can I get a single stick of RAM for 4 or 8 gb? if so, is the RAM for these DDR2 or 3, is there a place I can find this on this site or another?
Thanks

Shawn, thank you for the RAM specs.

One final question on the matter, just to verify what I am hearing. Blair said I only have one RAM spot due to the camera. You said the max RAM is 4 gigs, that would be with 2 RAM sticks.
So with MK3, a camera installed, the most RAM I can put in it is the 1 stick of 2 gig, is that correct?
Thanks again everyone!

Joe

That is correct according to the specs. Once in a while we get lucky and the specs are under rated. I think someone on NBR discussed the camera/memory subject a few months back. I'll search......

I tried to find the thread that showed the camera installed in the 19 and a picture of it taken out of the 19 so you can see why there is only room for one stick of memory but could not find it any where.

the 19mk3 should also work with 1 stick of 4GB DDR2 - one user had 8gb on it. I can give you the P/N of the model that he used.

I'm waiting for a 30mk3 on which I'll try to use the same kit (it's the same chipset as the 19, so it should work).

Joe,
You can find 4GB sticks of DDR2 but they are a bit expensive. Here's a link to an example (don't know the seller):
