For some time now I have been looking at SSD and finally got a new Intel X25-M SSDSA2M080G2GC 80GB SATA. . This 30 now starts up in 25 seconds and loads programs so fast .Before I installed it windows took about 45-50 seconds to start.....I can do a full restart in that time now If you are looking to add a SSD the first thing you should do is join this site http://thessdreview.com/Forums/forum.php . These guys are great and have a great guide http://thessdreview.com/ssd-guides/opti ... n-guide-2/ .There is a lot of SSD's on Ebay but you need to understand them first before you buy...G1, G2 , Trim ??
I started with a 80GB (74.4GB) and 10.6GB after updates and a few programs with 63.7 free. Awesome

Note that the sata-1 interface is reducing performance,in comparison to the same ssd in my Thinkpad with a sata-2 interface
Your average 115MB/s
Mine 170MB/s
The throughput is still double a 7200rpm hard drive
My previous Seagate Momentus XT hybrid hard drive was rated @83mb/s btw

I see what you mean. Is the MK2 and 3 sata-1 interface too ? Some where I have the test results from my old WD Black 320gb7200rpm drive....would like to compare them.

What the model # of your old drive blair?
Most of the newest 7200rpm drives are around @ 62 MB/sec
And yes with ssd's we need to find out what sata Toughbooks use the -2 spec
There are cf-19/74/52/30 that might all be limited to -1

I checked on the most common wd 7200rpm drives and updated my post
you doubled your old drive throughput
And of course the access time is instant on ssd's ,that was why users went for the 7200rpm drives over the slower 5400

Oh and I paid $250 with tax for my Intel so it was more expensive that your your Intel lol

That was a few days ago, I don't remember if I upgraded firmware
I have the ssd toolbox and the Optimiser is run and fine + the tuner
The opimizer states that the latest firmware must bbe on it to run ,and it completed whatever it does
My firmware listing looks different than yours
My drive may have been a later model ,I have the latest firmware, yours is out of date
2CV102M3 , and yours is 2CV102HD

Intel has the toolbox in there download area
Intel SSD Toolbox - v2.0.1.000.msi&lang=eng

Look for the firmware and retest after you optimize it
