Got my CF-52 up and running!

#1 Post by Silver Trooper »

I received yesterday the CF-52 I purchased for $600 (and some change). It really is in near perfect shape with no scratches and only one bad pixel (a red one). The pixel is only noticeable when there is a black background, so most of the time it is hidden. This model came with no Bluetooth/Smart Card/WWAN, but it did come wireless ready with the switch on the front. I had purchased an Intel WIFI card for my CF-51 project, along with 4GB of 667/5300 RAM and both went in perfectly. The great part about the 52 is that the WIFI card is located directly under the speaker cover panel, so five screws and there is the mini PCI-E. It came with a small board mounted between the two mounting screws that the two antenna leads attached to for storage until they are hooked to a card. Ten minutes and the card was in and then I downloaded the latest drivers from Intel. I "obtained" a Vista Ultimate COA and did the install along with all the Panny drivers. I then did the Office Pro 2007 install (also "obtained"), and it now has all the proverbial Windows programs. The HDD is an 80GB and I plan on cloning it over to a 160-250GB SATA 7200RPM. With the 1.83 processor, 4GB RAM and the 7200 HDD, this is one screaming machine. (Although it would pale incomparison to the Quad Core, 12GB RAM unit that Newegg is selling!). I have a CF-74 that is on the way and I plan on doing all the same to it! :pbjt: :pbjt:
One CF-52, four CF-18's, 4.5 CF-28's, one CF-29, five CF-M34's, two CF-37's, one CF-P2 and two CF-P1's. There are also two Getac A320T's, one Fieldpac and two IBM Transnotes. Not to mention the AMD 5600 CPU with three monitors and several HP PDA's. Whew! Must quit buying...no, must have MORE! Then there are the weapons...

Sorry to revive such an old thread but I was wondering if you did the SATA upgrade and with which parts and instructions.

Thanks

I never did the upgrade (too many other projects got in the way...), but it should be a simple operation to accomplish. Not really any different than cloning an IDE drive, you just need the external SATA hardware.

Legal yes, but still two more years before the retirement money starts. If there was ever a group of people that deserved retirement at 55 it is those in the national guard..... :damnit:

Oh well, for now I keep drawing unemployment and looking for work. Thanks for the wishes everyone! I may be another year older, but I will never grow up! :D :salute:
