Got the kryboard from Robert today but still the same problem . I have 6 bad keys numbers 1,4,7,8 and the letter o and r . As we all can guess what are the odd's of both keyboards having the same keys bad  . So that said any idea's. I do have another computer coming in next week but my guess it will be the same way.

Try to clean the keyboard connector. It may have some dirt or anything on it.

I just finished taking it all apart (replaced palm rest) and checked everthing , made sure nothing was loose. I even took some compressed air and blew it out to but nothing.

Blair,
There wasn't anything wrong with your eyesight and nope, the NUMLOCK isn't in the BIOS either. I stand corrected.

However, you might want to try booting from a "live CD", be it Ubuntu or any of the distros, or even a WinXP live CD that permits a RAM-residing OS independent from that in your 51. This will rule out corrupt keyboard drivers.

Another thing to try is to delete the keyboard through the device manager, reboot and let windoze re-detect. I'm not IT literate as the rest here and just going by wild hunches. You'll see me smile if it indeed worked for you.

Have a great weekend!!

Good Advice Ron!

Every PC repair toolkit needs a live boot disk of some flavor in it. I use GParted for this as well as BackTrack. :D

Thanks guys but no luck.....just tried "GParted" . I would say it's the motherboard but I am going to take it to work and let the guys look at it. Maybe they can have better luck that I did  .

I just got another CF-51 MK1LL with 3 hour battery no caddy for $43.00 shipped. So I pulled the caddy in my other one , loaded XP + the drivers and tried the keyboards and as I figured all the keyboards work great. So I dropped off my mk3 at work and I hope they can find out what is wrong. This one I just got is almost mint , one small mark on the top but it's only a single core and the other one is a Duo.

Update : motherboard was no good :(
