Hello again ... also: Looking for cf54 service manual and waterproofing info ... giving Passmark Benchmark

Hi folks,
I used to hang here back in the good old days of 2015-2018, mostly discussing OpenBSD/QubesOS/Linux stuff on cf19s and dissing cf20s :boing:

In the meantime, I've found my wife in Amsterdam and lost her in Vienna, lost my cf19mk6 on a train,
my sanity in Berlin (4 visits at the funhouse) and everything else with way-to-bullish AMD calls in the stockmarket.
Had to make due with a t420 thinkpad running OpenBSD, as my remaining cf19mk3 running Ubuntu turned out to be a bit old for some tasks
... what a long strange trip it's been wow.

Anyways, a refurbished cf54mk2 (CF-54EY142TG) with dock will arrive here by tomorrow noon,
which will be running Windows (with an OpenBSD firewall VM) untill those sweet fz40s hit the second-hand market.
My dock-setup will be 3 monitors on 1920x1080p: the 14" screen, a 24" elitedisplay and a 32" tv
... altough I intend to use it standalone in the hammock on most sunny days.

So ... uhm, yeah ... feels good to be back with the tough crowd :boing:

I am used to cleaning my cf19s in the sink and thus feel a bit uneasy about the low IP51 water resistance rating of the semi-rugged cf-54 mk2.
Any details / stories regarding spills, showers and waterproofing of cf54s are certainly appreciated.
Will it survive a few minutes of light rain? Are the boards dipped into epoxy? How to handle it after a spill?
(e.g. Thinkpads shall be left on a flat surface to drain and must not be tilted)

Oh and does anyone happen to have a Service Manual for the CF-54?

regards,
Karl Klammer

It arrived today and has 6 years * 200 workdays * 8 workhours on it
I am suprised how thin the display is - way thinner than even a t420.

So, my laptop is configured for the most part - missing work VPN and OpenBSD gateway VM.

I used to do Passmark 8.0 Performance Tests for my x230t thinkpad (2013), cf19mk3 (2009) and cf19mk6 (2012). Thus I repeated this test on a cf-54 mk2 (2017) ..
The cf54mk2 has about the same performance as a 4 year older x230t thinkpad ... only exception is 2x better 3d graphics performance.
The CF-54 mk2 is about 4 to 5 times faster than a 8 year older CF-19 mk3, which is the other - way more rugged - Toughbook in my posession.

EDIT: I found out that the keyboard tray is rated for 200ml liquids but the touchpad is sealed well. Keyboard tray also implies leaving it on a flat surface in case of spills.
Still looking for information on possible epoxy dipping of boards and also for a service manual.

EDIT: Found manuals up to cf53 at https://elektrotanya.com/showresult?wha ... page=7#res ... still looking for a cf54 manual tough
