Test was all 16GB ram and SSD! What it boils down to is UEFI support. If a Toughbook does not support UEFI that it will not run Windows 11 based on my testing!

And I would not even waste your time trying to find an i7 Mark 6 because the i7 is only 2% better than the I5. The proof is in the pudding:

Good to know, Rob. Thanks.

Thanks for tip Rob. I will stop looking at MK6 since it is not really much of an upgrade.

I figured it would be a lot more than that, good to know.

On the subject of the 31 mk6, does the ddr4 RAM in the mk6 add much besides price?

Rob wrote: Thu Feb 03, 2022 11:17 amThere is something SUPER exciding coming later this year as well but I can't legally share what it is... But I've seen it and I can tell you it's FULLY rugged and it may or may not be a direct replacement for the poor discontinued (yet loved) CF-31!
Later this year? are you allowed to give an approximate month? I only ask because I'll be on the lookout for a new(ish?) laptop soon for myself and even though I like the looks and concept of the 55 if there is a new fully rugged coming out I'd like to compare features and then choose what I'll get.

I'm under NDA's til it's released but I've seen it in great detail, I have pricing and SKU's but I haven't gotten my hands on it yet. I cannot legally give any more info than that. I will tell you this. Check the MK2 FZ-55 specs ;)

And again, I cannot give time frames but VERY SOON! :clapping:

Thanks!

My daily driver is still the 52gun from Jeff. I have an unused 31 mk4 and 19 mk6 collecting dust downstairs, along with a g1 and some of the older ones too.
Still using Linux exclusively on the 52. I just love the red led’s highlighting the kb.

Is this a custom mod? I couldn't find any pictures of it in the dark. I want to know more, this sounds super cool. Would love to see a picture!

Not much has changed here. CF-29Mk4, CF-30Mk2, CF-31Mk3, CF-52Mk2, CF-D1Mk1.
I had a box full of CF-19's in parts that I bought from Shawn but gave them to a retired military vet I met here in the ghetto. He said he was bored and needed something to occupy his time. Problem solved :D

All of my units are running different versions of MX Linux.

Here's a picture of the LED's, they are red, one in each corner at top of screen. The brightness is controlled by holding down Fn key and the up/down arrows. This allows the keyboard to be lit up from above (so to speak) Model # is:
