Firefox Quantum 57
Firefox Quantum 57
Opinions?
Thoughts?
Compared to Waterfox 64bit?
Kaspersky auto updated my CF 52 to version 57. It actually seems MUCH faster. As long as I can get over losing my addons.

FF is trash post 56, that's why I blocked updates.
Might give Waterfox a try if I get bored one night.

Why do you feel that it is trash past 56?

Re: Firefox Quantum 57
Mozilla itself is trash because diversity bullshit, no Classic Theme Restorer or NoScript, Stylish breaks styles on 57, and on and on.Shawn wrote:Why do you feel that it is trash past 56?
Ergo, i'll be sticking with FF56 for now, if not forever.

Re: Firefox Quantum 57
I miss Classic Theme Restorer but Noscript is back (although still a work in progress) and a few other useful things I use for work. So far Quantum works for me.

I will learn to accept the loss of some add ons. Especially if it performs better.
Old Firefox was a real cpu and memory hog.

Re: Firefox Quantum 57
I just left all my "legacy" add-ons installed/disabled and a few started popping up on their own as they auto-update once they are converted to WebExtensions from the developers.

I got mixed reviews with it so far. I updated to it 3 weeks ago. It doesn't seem any faster to me. But I ran my original Firefox tweaked. I haven't even tried to see if about:config works with this version yet. It may be because some times I can have 20 to 50 tabs open at once researching one of my projects.

Can confirm, on my G1 with 4GB RAM and a tuned Win8.1 install FF can use 50% RAM or more, with only one tab open.Shawn wrote:I will learn to accept the loss of some add ons. Especially if it performs better.

I have two tabs open on 31 and it uses 1.25 GB of my 16GB.
