100% Silicon Grease

#1 Post by Azrial »

If you need to reseal your Toughbook after splitting the case and are worried about getting a 100% silicon grease free of O-ring resolving petroleum distillates I might recommend checking your local Advanced Auto Parts. There I found Permatex Dielectric Grease #81150 in the electrical section.

As a good Haz-Mat Tech I looked up the MSDS http://www.permatex.com/documents/msds/ ... /81150.pdf and found that the formulation was 85-95% Polydimethylsiloxane. a type of polymeric organosilicon compound of silicone and 5-15% Amorphous Silicon Dioxide which is a gelatinous precipitate of sodium silicate.

Sooo, 100% Silicon with no petroleum distillates that works well and at a location that will be commonly available in most towns, priced about $4.00 with tax for .33 oz. HTH! :D
I am what I am, somebody has to be.
