Topic starts it well enough. Trying to get OBD2 to work thru a laptop. No luck so far. Annoying china crap for parts and programming doesn't help at all. Anyone done this? Looking at ultimately using a 19 or 51. Trying to not have to use a dell. Also plan to try it Linux.

On my Cf-30 mk2 I have USB reader and Bluetooth reader both work well. What type and brand are you using? The USB one was used and came with a disk. The Bluetooth one came with a disk full of questionable software and there cracker. That one was a China special. But both work well on different software. What vehicle also?

Well it's a usb ELM 327 V1.5a interface. One of the questionable china ones. Not wireless. I've gotten it to ALMOST work but keep getting a no ecu fault. I'm researching some alternative programs now.
This seller http://www.ebay.com/itm/161937978419?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT and item 23. VERY questionable software indeed. Planning to dump the whole thing in ebays lap soon.
The vehicles are my 2000 f-150 and the 01 chevy blazer. Both are obd2 and both talk to my shop scanner flawlessly. But it's the real deal, with foreign, domestic and the big stuff. I even hace some CAT stuff in it. It's a military set up that was "modified".
I'm not expecting to duplicate that machine, damn would be nice. But want it to at least talk to my trucks. I plan to go thru some parts this week at shop and see if I have a better interface. One of the serial port ones.

That is where my USB one is from. I think I snagged it, the disk and storage bag for around 10 dollar used. My bluetooth one is the ELM 327 china one. I had purchased another bluetooth one that was a black label no name one. I never opened it when the first one worked. I wound up giving it to one of my sons friends when he was troubleshooting. He said it worked great. The bluetooth one I have works with my phone and scanning software as well. I even changed some settings on my 2008 mini cooper with it and my phone.

Yep, that the software I have on disk. It takes a code to activate.

My bluetooth one looks like this.

Well I'm going to try this one this time. http://www.ebay.com/itm/231748705513?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
Plan to finish raising heck about my non functional china one. The usb one Ador posted has been replaced with a newer one for 29.00. SO will try the wireless one I just posted and see whats what. Contacted the seller and they claim the it WILL have the programming to connect to my trucks. Hopefully the wireless will function.

I'm waiting to get the new wifi one. Also plan to see if the china place will send me another usb one. I'm leaning towards the usb being at fault now.
