Google maps making the move to offline

It looks like a upcoming update puts google maps in a offline mode with out using any hacks or tricks.

Thank you regarding this. My wife and I share 1 GB data per month on our phones, and this would be a great thing do utilize. Looking forward to trying it out!

I figured at least some of y'all would find it useful. I know there has been a trick for years to download there offline maps but having it work on phones has been tricky for it working every time. It's nice that a lot of the new devices have dedicated GPS units and don't need the cell towers to work. I have one program now I use to have for back up of offline maps. I am sure the google maps will be updated more often.
