Hi all,

Just acquired a CF-U1. It has a copy of Windows 7 (not Panasonic's, as I had to install manually Video drivers).

Would Windows 10 work on the CF-U1? Or is there a copy of Panasonic's ISO image for the U1 which would have all the drivers and everything?


And what about a manual? I looked online, I did see a Panasonic site saying "Click here for manual / downloads" but couldn't find a manual.

You have the Mk1 and the Mk2. The Mk1 only has the 1.3 atom and 1gb of ram. The Mk2 still has a atom but has 2gb of ram. It can be made to work with windows 7, the mk2 had 7 as a option from the factory. I just haven't tried 8, 8.1 or 10 on it.

That is my thread when I was doing some playing with the U1. I have 6 units now. 5 are Mk1, #6 is a Mk2 with busted screen. Going to swap the board out with one of the low end Mk1's but just haven't had time yet.

Also what size SSD do you have installed? 16,32 and 64 were the factory options.

So you have a Mk2 with a windows 7 COA already. You have the largest SDD available the 64 GB unless someone has swapped it. You have wifi, bluetooth, fingerprint scanner, 2mp camera, 2d barcode scanner if none of this has been removed.

Cool, yeah it has a 64 GB SSD. Can't verify the camera or anything, having some driver issues that's why I was hoping maybe there was a 'recovery' ISO or something available.

Has anyone managed to get Windows 10 on these? Would the only issue be drivers for some of the things I may not use, ie barcode scanner, etc? Would touch, bluetooth, display and sound work fine? Would WIndows 10 run better than 7?

Cool thanks, installing that now. It's taking a good 30 minutes and not even half way done Wondering if I should blast away the Windows install and start over from scratch.....

There is a recovery iso as I have one put up myself, you can order one from heartlands.

Also you can match up other software that may work better. On a H1 I think it was Rob or Toughbook couldn't get very good quality pictures out of it. Then he used a CF-19 Mk5 (I think) software for the camera and got good high resolution shots out of it then.

When I have loaded older toughbooks in the past I have used software from other toughbooks like a dedicated windows 7 hot key driver for that toughbook. Some times when you load it with a generic ISO you have to do that.
