I have tried a few different Linux distros, all with the same results. I can install and boot from the mSATA ssd and adapter when it is in USB housing, but cannot install, or boot the system when I put the adapter into the caddy, after installing and booting in the USB housing.
I have tried formatting the ssd to fat16, fat32, ntfs, ext3, ext4, all giving the same results, see previous paragraph. The 64GB mSATA ssd is setup as a single partition before installing an OS.
I am going to run with the micro-SATA to IDE adapter with a 1/8" 128GB ssd I have been using for a yr or so.

Life's Journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways totally worn-out shouting 'Woo Hoo! What a ride!

There is always something waiting at the end of the road, if you are not willing to see what it is, you probably shouldn't be out there in the first place.
