CF-19 mk5/3 displays and dock question

Just bought myself a mk5 off eBay to replace my mk3.

Are the older mk1/2 screens interchangable with the mk5's "circulumen" screen?

For whatever reason I think the new mk5's screen looks dimmer at full brightness and it looks a bit washed out (less contrast) than the mk3. This is even during bootup/BIOS screens. The black border around the LCD seems larger as well. (I'll take a few comparison pics soon.)

I also have the old CF-VEB181AU desktop dock (new one is 191)... the mk5 doesn't seem to dock very well in it, it's loose and frequently disconnects electrically (Windows does the donk-donk sound) with slight movement. Is this normal?

As for the screen, no it doesn't. Mk3-mk7 is LED, mk1-2 are CCFL.

And yes, the screen indeed looks slightly too high contrasted here too.

Yes same here. At work now but will check out the border in the AM.

I believe there is a selector switch on the LED backlight inverter. You can select 1 & 2 but it require an opening of the LCD panel. It is covered by a black tape as I remember. It got to do with the brightness of the LCD. As I remember correctly, "2" I believe will be in full capacity of the led but of course if you adjust it to lower it follows. The only setback of this is the backlight will be less of its time but who cares.

So this isn't proper scientific/100% aligned and my ruler is kinda off, but I tried my best to look perfectly square to the screen.. and well, here you go... so the mk5-7 screens ARE smaller than the mk1-4!

The edge in the middle of the border area is the edge of the screen protector.

Anyone noticed something about the newer 19s? Those black winged things have slots at the screws, and the "Panasonic CF-19" thing on the left has a different font compared to my old 19.

I think ALL CF-19s have WWAN antennas built-in?

My mk5 doesn't have "wings" but it has WWAN antennas. Are the wings just for RF exposure limits? If so, then my old mk3 had half-wings whereas my mk5 doesn't have wings at all. And it looks like there are different WWAN antennas as well. I'm travelling right now so I don't have the capability to take it apart but I wonder, if the newer WWAN antennas are tuned for LTE frequencies and/or regional carrier differences.

If I remember right the wings were a USA ONLY requirement.

.. hmm. That makes sense this this mk5 is a Canadian unit.

Could someone with full-length wings take off the left cover (four screws) and let us know what antennas are underneath? Mine's labelled WLAN for the bottom and WWAN for the top with the half-wing at the top.

mk3 WLAN, lower left: DFUP17222ZA(3)
mk3 WWAN, upper left: DFUP1722ZA(1)
