Just a wee update, I'm currently logged in on the new CF-19!
I've upgraded the ram to 4GB, fitted a 128GB SSD and installed Windows 8.1 and I absolutely love it :)

Minor problems are that the touchscreen is pretty flakey to use with your finger although it works perfectly with the pen. I also have 2 driver problems, 1 shows as a Data Interface which I think relates to the WWAN? and the other is an ACPI device. I'll google the hardware I.D.s though and I'm sure I'll work it out.
I'd really like to get a backlit keyboard for it, is it just a case of fitting one or does it need to have an enabled motherboard or something?
I'm also going to have to sort out GPS for it and get an in-vehicle mount of some description.. any advice?

I'm also going to have to try and sell the two cf-18s I now have surplus as well lol... or maybe I'll keep them :)

Did you use a restore disc or just add drivers? Get a restore disc from Rob here,it will save a lot of headaches and time.

Backlit keyboard is a plugin deal....After you do the really hard part...They cost $225.00... Used ones are made mostly out of Unobtainium. Used still cost $175.00 if you are lucky.

There's a backlit one on ebay just now for something like £75 if I remember correctly so that one sounds like a bargain?
I just installed win 8.1 and played around with drivers from a mark 6 and 7. I'd love a recovery disk though, how do I go about getting one?

I would make sure the seller is not selling you a rubber keyboard. I have seen many sellers get mixed on which is which .

Wow, that's a crazy price lol. Yeah the one I was looking at is rubber and I've since found others for as cheap as £39... I'm assuming that the rubber ones are pretty useless for typing with then? :(
