Daylight Viewable Displays

Hello, everyone.
This may be a sow's ear into a purse question, but is it possible or even practical to install a daylight viewable display into the 74?
That has been my only real complaint with the 74. I don't use the touch screen, but I would like to take it outside, even under an umbrella or awning.
Or, should I consider moving off the 74 to another Business Rugged?
Your thoughts are welcomed.
John

Not really, man. See spec. 460 isn't anything to write home about.
13.3" 1024x768 XGA daylight-readable touchscreen LCD
External video support
Anti-glare, anti-reflective screen treatments
IntelĀ® GM45 (GMA 4500MHD video controller)
460 nit LCD brightness

That seems off to me. My mother has a 74 and side by side to my 30 (At the time) it was the same brightness.
Weird... Can anyone else confirm or am I crazy? Lol!

What's the Model #?
Meanwhile the old configurator states 460 for all.
If you want bright see if Teo (ohlip) can help with his led upgrade. My CF-52 LEDGUNTEO

will melt glasses. Running at 1/3 most of the time.

I believe a 74 with a single led strip would impress you.
I don't have a 74 this minute but do they have a normal/high brightness in the bios? I think not.
If I was upgrading the 74 in your case, I would keep an eye out for a 52GUNBRAM or equivalent. Keyword GUN...this is the touchscreen 52. Uses a CF-30 size screen and LCD. Very survivable screen wise....(I drop tested mine).

due to the wide bezel. And the red leds shining on the keyboard are great.

1000nit would be the models with the dual ccfl. I am pretty certain the cf29's and cf74's all had the single ccfl which is 500nit.
The cf52GUN and the cf30 touchscreen have dual ccfl. The later cf52 widescreen has a led backliight. I don't know the nit rating of it. The 500nit 13" panel can be upgraded to 1000nit by adding a second ccfl or led strips. I am waiting for my led strips/inverter to arrive so I can install them in a cf74 lcd(orig 500 nit). Then I will swap it (plug and play) into my cf30.
That's all of the nitwit I have.

If you can find a reasonably priced CF-53 (hard), they are pretty bright for outdoor use.

Thanks for the feedback. When I initially met Rob over the phone regarding the move from XP to Win7, he more or less suggested the same. That is, consider moving to a 53 Refurb. But, I upgraded the OS anyway and my only bitch point is the screen, as I always have since I've had it.
Best,
John

Regarding screens, can I state that LCD's with 1000 NITS or more are outdoor viewable by default? or NITS are not the only criteria to assure that? Thank you anybody who can enlighten me.
