CF-29mk2-Linux-Lubuntu 12.04-

I am getting ready to move and cleaning out the closet. This little gem of a CF-29EWKGZKKM needed to go, having a nice rubber back lit keyboard, all dust covers, and the touchscreen worked!. Thank you Sadlmkr for gifting me the hard drive caddy, TechTuff for a sweet SATA adaptor, and a used SATA hard drive to complete the system. I could NOT get Mint 14, 15,16 xfce to load and install (maybe I am just impatient), however 13 Mint xfce 32 bit loaded with a disk but just did NOT seem right. Thanks then goes to Ador, who suggested Lubuntu & Kubuntu operating systems. I looked up Lubuntu, and found it was very thrifty on resources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lubuntu
I downloaded Image Burn Program: http://www.imgburn.com/
along with an ISO of Lubuntu 12.04: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/relea ... 4/release/
and scrolled down to locate the correct ISO, looking for a cd/disk icon named lubuntu-12.04-alternate-i386 iso 23 April 2012 standard download. This is the lts (long term support) version. From the wiki: Lubuntu (/luːˈbuːntuː/ loo-boon-too) is a lightweight Linux operating system based on Ubuntu but using the LXDE desktop environment in place of Ubuntu's Unity shell and GNOME desktop. LXDE is touted as being "lighter, less resource hungry and more energy-efficient".[2][3][4][5][6]
I booted up the newly burned iso, following directions on this site and others, and in 20 minutes I was surfing the net. She found all my hardware and the touch is also working, I just need to use Sadlmkr's tweak to calibrate the touchscreen and fix the touchpad: http://forum.notebookreview.com/panason ... ost9334740
It's time to stop for now but will report back asap on how Lubuntu is working with the CF-29 MK 2-cheers/cleve
