I recommend this a lot. I first picked up on it from a post by Tomcat in 2011.

What you are doing is clearing stray electrics from the mother board.

HOW:
1. Dis-connect Power Supply.
2. Pull the battery.
3. Disconnect the CMOS battery from the motherboard
4. Hold the switch on 10-30 seconds for several cycles until your hand gets tired.
5. Plug in power supply only. (battery is a process of ACPI and we want to give the unit as little input as possible for first boot)
6. Boot the unit, [F2][F9][F10][Save]

Useful in Touchscreen work, WWAN and generally should be done with any strange unit...(to you)

Now, I am going to copy this to my tool bar to cut down on typing this year. :D

This was my Dad's old advice from YEARS ago... Though this was personalized to PCs.

My Dad always said... If everything looks right and it still won't work... Unplug it and let the capacitors drain... Then plug it back in and try it. This advice has cured so may ills, not only with PCs... But TVs, stereo systems... All sorts of stuff.

I've had people call and ask for advice about something and I told them what I've typed here. On a lot of occasions they will call back thinking I did something miraculous.

All in a day's pay... LOL

I don't generally pull the cmos battery as it takes opening the bottom in some cases. play on words intended.
