Re: BIOS Password
Okay guys I have a CF-19 that is requiring me to have a password to get into bios!
I just bought a new seagate 500g 7200rpm HD and now I tried to get into bios and requires me to have that damn password.
I have tried to erase the password by dsconnecting both batteries, that didnt work.
I tried the other method of connecting the ac power while booting bios and the disconnecting, that also didt work!
My next thing is to buy a external cd drive and boot one of the cgs things. But how would it book if the computer doesnt have the driver for the external drive? would it still work without the driver?
Thanks
Lil Foot

Re: BIOS Password
What boot options do you have?
I have a usb floppy that I use with killcmos to reset
It also works to load bios files
You might get lucky loading as the usb cd rom might be set as first boot device as well

Re: BIOS Password
im not sure what you mean by"boot options"
there are multiple usb slots in the computer aswell as some others that im not too familiar with.
there is no floppy drive nor cd drive

Re: BIOS Password
Right
You will need to try a usb floppy or usb optical drive with bootable media to see if it works
The usb slot in front of the power jack is the one to use

Re: BIOS Password
what is a usb optical drive? isnt that a fancier word for external cd drive?
so what I would need to do is burne dthat scgsecurity file thing onto a cd then basically run it when the computer boots up?
if so, sounds easy!

Re: BIOS Password
Yes you will have to try a cd or floppy drive with either killcmos to reset bios
Or try booting with a cd drive with a windows disk to see if the optical drive is first in line for boot
What cf-19 do you have?
Is it a touchscreen or a digitizer and what mk#

Re: BIOS Password
On the bottom of the computer you should have a tag that reads CF-19?????? . Find them and go to http://www.config.toughbook.com/ .This should tell you what you have or give you a rough idea what you have when it was new
