CF-52 MK3 SSD Issues

So I decided to finally acquire a SSD for a CF-52 MK3 I just acquired. I ended up buying a 128GB Samsung 840 Pro Series (http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/memo ... Z-7PD128BW). Install into the caddy was a snap. Now I'm assuming since the drive is right out of the box its formatted and blank.....When I used the restore disk to boot to load W7 it has a BSOD when the computer tries to boot. I tried changing the hard drive setting in BIOS to SATA Compatible and it got better, so that the computer boots up to the point where the restore software loads, but then it gives me a "host computer not reachable" error or a BSOD.

I searched SSD threads both here and on NBR, but most are on problems after install or specs or what people chose for SSD's. I could not find anything with an install problem this severe. Am I missing something here, like does the drive need to be formatted first or.....? I would appreciate any help as I was all excited and now am pissed that this doesn't work.

the only issue I could think of based on your experience is some kind of problem between the Sata3 interface on the SSD and the Sata2 controller and/or host driver.

Is there anyway to fix this? I already checked to make sure there's no BIOS updates or anything.

I know that we cannot for the life of us get a standard recovery DVD of Windows 7 Pro 32 bit to restore on any drive larger than a 320GB on our CF-52MLB's we have in stock... It just errors out. 320GB OEM drive or 250GB OEM drive are fine! UGH!

Well....its a 128GB so I don't think it should have a size issue, I was wondering though if anyone has had this happen when they've used recovery disks on a SSD? I'm really foul because I can't really see anything else to adjust here to make it work?

Connor...I have put the Samsung SSD in all my 52's with no problems what so ever but no MK3, two MK1's , three MK2's and one MK4 but mine were not the Pro series. You should see Springfield, I think he does something to the drive before hand just can't remember what.

When I'm using a Recovery DVD, I just let it run there is nothing more to do. Apparently Win7 and Pany's version of Acronis can see it's an SSD and do the right alignment.

If I am restoring an image file from another machine (e.g. using HD Clone), I have to check the box for 4K Alignment so the cloning software will install the image on the SSD aligned with its internal 4k segments.

Have you checked for firmware updates for the ssd?

You are sure the connector on the end of the FFC, that mates to the system board connector, is sitting in the caddy properly? I am trying to eliminate things that possible could have been overlooked.

Remember that if you install the OS in compatibility mode, you will have to reinstall the OS when you switch to native mode.

Try removing one stick of ram. If it doesn't boot proper still, change the sticks and try again.

Rob, do you think the old partition trick that worked on older machines would work on this. Say have 128 GB for windows to install on? The rest just for storage?
