removing it is not a very good idea in ExEnv, but re-inserting it is a damn stupid move !

From what I have seen that type of control can't exist, they will find a way.

I think the locks are more for protection from accidental ejection and spark-producing disconnection of energized parts due to drops or bumps. It's common to have locks, or soldered connections, on other battery-powered haz loc devices I've seen.
