CF-19 typing wrong keys

#1 Post by ADOR »

Well the girl friend is off training horses some this summer and took the toughbook with her CF-19 Mk1. Same unit I replaced the screen on a while back. It was working fine till she let her oldest boy use it. He was on the internet and must of clicked on a pop-up and it loaded a virus. I helped her remotely to take it off and got most if not all of it off. Some stuff still wasn't working because the virus had did a lot of stuff at the registry level. Even the keyboard had started typing funny. Say pressing Y would put a 3 on the screen. I had my son ship her my CF-19 Mk1 recovery DVD. She restored her toughbook but says the keyboard is still typing wrong. Since this is a fresh install I wouldn't say that it is a software / configuration problem. Has anyone had any problems like this on there CF-19? I have a couple of spare keyboard to swap out but that will have to wait till I get home.

I just made the Y and 3 up as an example. Trying to trouble shoot it from half the world away and she is limited on what she knows about a computer. I am waiting on a reply from her to see if that is what the problem was. Her son may of got into the bios and "adjusted" a few things.

Yep, it's back working now. Wasn't thinking it was the number lock, I never use it on laptops. Thanks guys she is back up and running on full now. I had asked he to look in the bios to see if it got switched on there but she never did fully reply to that. It's always the simple stuff that bites you in the ass.
