This summer I am getting ready to do a couple of upgrades on the girlfriends CF-19 Mk1 I got her. The main thing she wants is Windows 7 as I installed that on her Dell when her OEM installed Vista started BSOD on her due to registry errors and she like it a lot better than XP or Vista. While I have it I will be upgrading the factory 80GB hard drive and looking at adding WWAN to it. She currently uses her Version usb stick and is happy with that but I want to get a back up installed for her in case she needs it and I am at work. I would like this card to be GPS capable too. She still hits the Rodeo circuit and does road trips from time to time so I think that would be a nice option for her.

What are y'all opinions on the following cards as far as signal pickup and the GPS installed on them.

1: GOBI 1000
2: GOBI 2000
3: SIERRA MC8790

And yes Rob I have you in mind on card purchase as I talked to you some about this a few months back. I just didn't get time to do the install before she got it like I originally wanted too.

I got them working with windows 7 when I had the laptop first loaded. I can't remember what I used, thinking Mk3 or Mk 4 drivers. But when I got my hands on the restore DVD I just used it. Touch was what I had a problem with before. It was only on there a couple of days before XP went on.

The touch was easy, you just need to update the bios

I had problems with the buttons on the front when it had original Vista however, the 'key' button works ok, interestingly the touchscreen works perfectly using the WIN7 calibration software in the control panel. I did not update the BIOS and caannot get into the damn thing anyway.....don't start me off!!

I am interested in the GPS software though as I am looking to run some decent topography mapping software.
