Your picture is dead below this:

COMPACT FLASH GPS

To use this option you will need a PCMCIA to compact flash adapter. The unit then plugs into the compact flash slot. These are easy to remove and you can leave the adapter in the computer. These usually have a external port so you can plug in a external antenna. Prices will vary.

Got it fixed, thanks Rob. That was one that I didn't have swapped over to my flickr pro account yet.

We might want to consider putting all the pictures locally on the Toughbooktalk webserver. I'll tell you why: Flickr may go down or the pictures could expire and it would make the forum look bad.

Just a thought.

Thanks

I don't think they expire with a pro account, why I got it in the first place (I have seen too many good threads on NBR and other automotive sites get ruined that way) and I have all of them saved in a folder just incase, but we can move them if we need too. One good article that I know now that is gone off of the internet now was the cf-18 gps install. It was on I think toughbook central as a tech article, BUT I have the whole thing saved as a 2003 word document. That is how I like to archive good articles I find, it puts the picture and all just how I want it most of the time.

Still trying to get some shots we need tracked down, some I got to finish up and clear the work bench off so I can get started on them. I am trying to get some more factory GPS shots but the only picture I can find is on a Mk7 that was posted by a guy on NBR that only posted the one shot and has only 4 posts, last post was 2009/2010. So there is no way right now to contact him and see if he still has the unit.

Did you need shots from a Mark7? Anything in particular?

My camera came back from vacation....I found it.

Not sure what you were doing with USB drives (whether old ones or just ones that work)but I posted above about the one I used.

This is a repeat of another thing I posted (PM to Blair) The MK7 treated the USB stick as a drive until a hdd was added. Then I had to use the USB mentioned above.

FWIW ...keep it up.

Right now shots I need are:

Motherboard shot of Mk4,5,6

More Factory GPS shots, got one of the antenna cover, need one of the board. I don't think it used the same board as the CF-28. (it may have as it used the same GPS engine)

Wi-fi upgrade pictures (haven't taken them yet)

Internal PCMCIA GPS MOD (haven't started it yet) Based on the Gobook 2 card, I can see already I am going to have height problems, but Teo has mentioned before a fix for that.

That's the one I can think of at the moment.

For Info.

Teo,
Are you sure that the CF-M34 used the same bump out as the CF-18/19. I finally ran across a factory GPS bump out picture on a MK7 and it looks different?

I was thinking I might just use that PCMCIA GPS I have and use one of the CF-18 covers I have on the other side. No where near as good as your custom set up but good enough for a quick backyard fix.

I HAVE UPDATED THE FIRST POST WITH MORE INFO AND PICTURES. ADDED MK1,2,3,7 MOTHER BOARD PICTURES, NEED SHOTS OF THE MK4,5,6 OR AT LEAST CONFIRL THEY ARE THE SAME AS OTHER.

Its been a long time but I'm I've guess your right. It has different bump out on which I remembered was screwed on the extended screw hole threaded of the serial port and base on you picture. It is indeed on that spot.

Did anyone get the dual M-PCI slot daughterboard? Two of the ones I have opened so far only have the 1 M-PCI slot daughterboard. Since they are all the same model number I doubt that the third one has one.

Interesting flyer to add to your M34 collection

http://img.4pk.ru/27361.pdf

For Mk1, shows even the wwan was optional on the Mk1. Talks about some of the "water resistat" features of the model, 6 page pdf.

I also had an idea on integrating a WWAN on this unit using the PCMCIA short card but with builtin antena. The antena is from CF-29 including its base pcb board that installed inside the LID with just an inch jumper in order to minimize lost signal. I started on an antena installation couple with GPS antena.

Here you go.
