OK...I have a HTC Hero smartphone and need to unlock it. It's on Sprint now but need to unlock it so I can get it setup on Bell Mobility Canada. So does anyone know the best place to do this. I know there is a lot of companys that do it but has anyone used them before.
Also this is the USA Hero...The overseas Hero is a different style and mine has no sim slot.

Welcome to the forum...Thank you but I did find that site 2 weeks ago and this was one of them phones that can not be unlocked . I just got one of them Google phones that are unlocked, dropped in the sim card and off I go .

WHat's the quick and dirty why not? I've been on xda-developers for 5 or 6 years and played with/unlocked several phones, changed roms, etc, so I can guess, but just wasn't sure.

I never did call Rob about it only because I picked up a HTC/Google Nexus one the next day which is an unlocked phone. I emailed lots of unlock companys on the web and all said it can't be done. Most just said no but some went into greater detail that lost me . Some said they need a phone with a sim slot which this phone does not have one. When I called Bell mobility the guy on the other end said to hit ebay and look for a Google Nexus one phone...they come from the factory unlocked so I did. Not sure how the phones plans are in USA but in Canada you must sign up for 3 years, you get a smart phone free or almost free but the plan cost about $75.00 a month for what I need but if I buy a phone I am not locked in for 3 years and I can pick what I want for service options and its $55.00 a month...will drop another $5.00 now since this is an unlocked phone. ($50.00). Still got the phone ...just loaded a few games on it for work .

Because you can only unlock GSM phones... CDMA phones are BOUND the the carriers as they don't have SIM cards.
