How about whoop whoop?

I have a 1200 hour CF-31J that makes a barely audible air raid warning with ANY hard drive....sound emanates from the drive area.

Faulty connection?

Unplug the fan...then

Look outside for planes..

It could be the fan. Changing it out would answer that. (or unplugging)

Yes I have a cooling fan if you need one.

Try a different DVD drive also.
Disconnect the speaker to verify that it is not coming from it.

Ya know that piece of paper that comes in new DVD's? Says "Remove Before Use"

Heh, ain't no more moving parts in my CF-30.

And besides, I'm not deaf enough to mistake a damned hissing speaker with a feral cat trying to gouge my eyes out.
