This is typical of my speeds
I ran the test 4 times and this was the fastest result , it varied 10%

I set my wi-fi adapter to B mode only and still have normal download speed
If that speed is your typical blair you would be fine like myself a even B standards as our ISP sucks
There would be no improvement in upgrading to N in our cases as our throughput is limited

Rob for example has a fast enough ISP that in his case he would notice a difference of an N upgrade

Here is a quote from a FAQ guide on throughput with the wireless B standard
While peak data rates may be acheivable at times, many 802.11b home network links typically run at 2-3 Mbps. This is still faster than broadband Internet connections, that normally operate at 0.5-2 Mbps peak for downloads. Because the Internet connection is often a bottleneck, 802.11b LAN throughput is effectively reduced to that of the broadband access.

TERRIBLE...: Here are mine :D:

Can I say as well that speedtest.net results are NOT very accurate based on my networking knowledge... testmy.net is better. I pay for 20M down and 5M up... Comcast always usually gives you more than what you pay for (which is RARE these days). You guys are in Canada, which is why your internet speeds are less than dismal) :

Thanks Rob

Lesson here is that in our case Blair we could use the old wireless B standard and still not see an improvement in throughput
A ABG card like the senano or 3945 ABG will work perfect in our situation , and will give reliable range and performance

Yes. For me WIFI B would be shooting myself in the foot for my connection... Which I hardwire my toughbook every day too...

If I disable the wireless bridge that rebroadcast's the signal and that gives me a hard wire internet connection for desktop computers it has a small improvement
Note that the AP that I am using is 400 feet away from my yacht

The download at the site you posted Rob is 1007 Kbps or 1 Mbps

I know it is not faster than the B wi-fi spec
