Removing FZ-G1 screen from bezel?

#1 Post by Euphoria »

I recently purchased an FZ-G1 screen that is attached to the bezel, it's the entire front cover for the toughpad; How would I go about removing the LCD itself from the bezel?

The reason I'm doing this is so I can utilize the display in a project I'm doing, since the additional hardware on the display (digitizer and etc) look like they can be easily adapted for other purposes, and the display itself uses what looks like a standard eDP connector.

Update on this, I managed to remove the bezel in the standard method these days, of heating the entire front bezel assembly on a 3d printer heated bed, (I have a rather large FDM printer that is much larger than the FZ-G1 in length and width) to 80C, and used a tool to separate the screen from the bezel.

I'm not sure if this would be possible if you wanted to do it non-destructively as far as keeping the bezel intact goes, I ripped off the rubber edge to allow the magnesium bezel to lay as flat as possible on the heated bed, to allow heat to transfer faster into it. I was only able to do this since I'm using the display assembly for a project, and won't need the bezel again.
